Who I am
My name is Mikaylee Dato and I am an LPC in the state of Oregon. I have my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in Sociology with a focus in Criminal Justice from Oregon State University. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University. In my time as a therapist, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings providing individual, group, and family counseling. I have also enjoyed providing therapy services to multiple private and public elementary and high schools to make access to care easier for students and families.
As an Oregon native, I’ve always loved the outdoors—whether it’s hiking, camping, wake surfing, snowboarding, or snowshoeing. I enjoy exploring new places, immersing myself in different cultures, and connecting through food. When I’m not out adventuring, you’ll find me with a great cup of coffee or tea, binging a good show, and soaking up quality time with my favorite people.
My approach
I utilize a client centered, strengths-based, trauma informed approach to therapy. I believe therapy should be a safe and collaborative process to guide individuals to evaluate, understand, and process thoughts and experiences that will allow for greater healing. I will meet you where you are at in your journey and draw upon your strengths to empower you as you process all life has thrown at you, as well as challenge thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that might be keeping you stuck. I will create a therapeutic space that is inviting, excepting, and honest. I am also direct and straight forward. I will provide you with many useful tools and resources so you can reach your goals! I am here to help you feel your most confident and successful self, and to be able to tolerate and successfully navigate this unpredictable world.
With my holistic approach, I will integrate all facets of your life into our work. I tailor my theory and interventions to meet each client's individual needs and abilities and therefore, have understanding and practice in various evidence-based modalities.
